Guerrieri-Rizzardi was founded over a century ago and today own a total of four wine estates situated in four
Appellations or sub regions of Veneto, Italy. The four Appellations are the DOC Classico areas of Bardolino, Valpolicella, Soave and Valdadige. Crafted in a clean and approachable style, our DOC wines offer great value while representing the unique heritage of their respective regions. The range of wines include a dry, white Soave Classico DOC, a dry rose Bardolino Chiaretto Classico DOC as well as two dry unoaked reds, Bardolino Classico DOC & Valpolicella Classico DOC.
The grapes for our Bardolino Classico DOC are grown on our estate vineyards situated in the Bardolino DOC Classico area. These vineyards, influenced by the micro-climate created by Italy's largest body of water, Lake Garda, is ideal for growing high quality grapes. Guerrieri Rizzardi has long been a champion of native, indigenous grapes and Corvina make up 70% of the blend of this wine along with Rondinella, Merlot, Corvinone, Molinara Negrara and Sangiovese. The grapes are naturally farmed and harvested. The wine is then fermented and aged in neutral stainless steel tanks, with no influence of oak barrels prior to bottling.
This wine has a perfumed nose with notes of red berries and spice. This Bardolino is dry, round and fresh on the palate with good acidity. Serve our Bardolino slightly chilled with vegetarian or white meat based dishes including chicken, turkey, pork or rabbit. We also recommend this wine with salads such as "Caprese" - sliced tomato and mozzarella or with grilled seafood. This wine is excellent with Asian fare such as Dim Sum or mildly spiced curries.
Jamie Goode’s wine blog, UK, July 9 2008, “Bardolino Classico 2007 - …Sweet, bright cherry fruit dominates the nose and palate. It’s quite rounded, with a rich texture…Joyful and quite drinkable, but would work well with a range of foods too. There’s a place for this sort of wine. 87/100”
Harpers Magazine, UK, January 26th 2007 "Bardolino - Going back to Their Roots", by Geoff Adams "I particularly like the Rizzardi selection, consisting of their intensely fruity Bardolino Classico…"
The Journal, UK, October 2006 – “Wine’s Our Family Business” by G. Adams “I believe it is their techniques and philosophies, which have been scrupulously applied in their vineyards and winery over the years, that have created the blueprint for the recent renaissance in this region. Guerrieri Rizzardi Bardolino Classico 2005, The back cherry and red fruit palate is charming, but supremely elegant and well balanced.”
