Guerrieri-Rizzardi was founded over a century ago and today own a total of four wine estates situated in four
Appellations or sub regions of Veneto, Italy. The four Appellations are the DOC Classico areas of Bardolino, Valpolicella, Soave and Valdadige. Crafted in a clean and approachable style, our DOC wines offer great value while representing the unique heritage of their respective regions. The range of wines include a dry, white Soave Classico DOC, a dry rose Bardolino Chiaretto Classico DOC as well as two dry unoaked reds, Bardolino Classico DOC & Valpolicella Classico DOC.
The grapes for our Valpolicella Classico DOC are grown on our estate vineyards situated in the hills of Negrar in the Valpolicella DOC Classico area. These hillside vineyards enjoy temperate conditions which are ideal for growing high quality grapes. Guerrieri Rizzardi has long been a champion of native, indigenous grapes. Corvina and Corvinone grape varieties make up 70% of the blend of this wine along with a portion of Rondinella, Merlot, Negrara, Barbera and Molinara. The grapes are naturally farmed and harvested. The wine is then fermented and aged in neutral stainless steel tanks, with no influence of oak barrels prior to bottling.
This wine has a complex nose, with notes of red and black cherries, spice and earth. This Valpolicella is dry, round and rich on the palate with good structure. Serve our Valpolicella with meat based dishes such as Italian appetizers of proscuitto, salami or cold pork. It can be enjoyed with entrees of pasta with tomato or meat sauce. This wine can also be served with grilled salmon, roast beef, lamb, veal or game and is excellent with delicacies such as Tuna or Steak Tartare.
