Castello Guerrieri Rosso is a grand reserve wine produced exclusively by Guerrieri Rizzardi. As with the Castello Guerrieri Bianco, it represents the most ancient expression of the soil of Bardolino. The vineyard lies in the hills above eastern shore of Lake Garda. After harvest, the grapes are dried on racks for a few weeks and the vinification process is similar to that of Amarone in Valpolicella. It is a superb rich red wine with intense notes of ripe fruit and spice. We recommend it to be decanted and served (16-18° C or 60-65° F) with roasted or braised meat, game dishes such as venison, curry based dishes or with cheeses such as Parmesan or Pecorino.

Harpers Magazine, UK 26th Jan 2007 – “Bardolino - Going Back To Their Roots” “I particularly liked the Rizzardi selection...The 2001 Guerrieri Rizzardi Castello Rosso is an excellent example, its balance, freshness and weighty depth of flavour were awesome and it didn’t loose any of the quintessential minerality I so enjoy about the wines from this area.”
