    • Merlot IGT Veronese

      The first vintage of Clos Roareti, our premium quality merlot was 2004 from the historic vineyard of Rovereti, in Negrar, Valpolicella.  In this 100 year old walled vineyard, Giuseppe Rizzardi has planted Merlot and others grape varietals that are perfectly suited to the climate and soil.  The resulting wine has rich, full bodied and complex Merlot characteristics in the nose and the palate, with a hint of oak characteristics. 

    • We recommend it to be decanted and served (16-18° C or 60-65° F) with roasted game or red meats such as rack of lamb or fillet mignon.

    • TECHNICAL DATA

    • Vineyard location: Clos of Rovereti in Negrar
    • Geology: Reddish pebbly soil with clay and silt
      Grape varieties: Merlot
      Vines density per hectare: 5,000
      Production per hectare/ acre: 7 tons / 2,85 tons
      Winemaking process: The grapes after picking, are destemmed and crushed. The alcoholic fermentation take place in stainless steel vats for 10 days at a controlled temperature of 25°C-30°C.  It follows a long maceration.   After pressing, start the malolactic fermentation.
      Ageing in cellar: 12 months in barriques ( about 33% new)
